Discerning the Signs of the Times

Over the last eight years or so, my eyes have been getting worse. I’ve always had trouble seeing. Funny thing is, while these old eyes keep fading, something else has been getting clearer. In the quiet—really quiet—the Holy Spirit has been opening my spiritual sight. It seems like I could see farther now then before.

Jesus said it pretty plain:

“When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.” (Matthew 16:2-3, NKJV)

Lately I’ve been sensing something heavy on my heart. The light is beginning to overwhelm the darkness of the world and the Church. There’s going to be some hard days. I don’t pretend otherwise. But I know who wins.

He is Jehovah Jireh—the Lord who sees what’s coming and provides.

He is Jehovah Rapha—the Lord who heals what’s broken, body and soul.

He is Jehovah Nissi—the Lord our Banner, the One who goes before us in the fight.

He is Jehovah Shalom—the Lord our Peace when the wind is howling.

He is Jehovah Tsidkenu—the Lord our Righteousness.

He is Jehovah Shammah—the Lord who is right here. He doesn’t leave.

That’s His heart.

This is what I believe the Lord whispered to me in the quiet place:

God is in our midst right now. He is preparing His true Church—the ones who worship Jesus and Him alone. We will not be shaken. We will prevail, because He will prevail.

The storm may come.

So will His glory.

Stay watchful.

Stay worshipful.

Stay in the secret place.

The King is coming.
